Makeup for Breeze Magazine Cover

I am extremely ecstatic!!
This is my first work to ever be featured on a magazine cover!
Thanks so much to Jonathan from Breeze for believing in my talent as well as the fine opportunity to work with one of Malaysia's successful model who hails all the way from our very own backyard.
Behold my latest post

~ Breeze March Issue featuring Cassandra Patrick ~

For those of you who haven't heard of Cassandra Patrick, allow me to give you a brief summary of who she is.
Born in the states & raised in K.K, Cassandra has made her mark in the international modeling arena with many commercial, print & runway works. She is also the Miss Malaysia World 1st Runner Up for 2006/07 and the 2007 Revlon Ambassador.

Going back to the shoot, I personally had to double time myself as I did Mandy's makeup as well on the same day & had another bridal job after. So needless to say I had very limited time!
Anyways, we had Olumis Borneo Batik to sponsor the outfit and I decided to do a very simple yet dramatic liner makeup to give her a high fashion feel.

Based on her outfit, I then used gold pigments from m.a.c to create that warm texture which will contrast with the dramatic dark liner. I then used The BodyShop's bronzing beads to give her that radiant glow on her cheeks & finished off with a medium colored lip color to balance out the color scheme.

20 minutes later.....

Unfortunately the look wasn't commercially appealing enough so we had to re-do the shoot 2 days later. But i'm glad we did, which gave me more time to do a better job!
Here are the results of the second makeup:

Makeup this time was much lighter, less on the high fashion & more on the Beauty! Basically she knew what she wanted and I tried my best to follow her requirements. I don't recall the stuff that I used coz I was busy talking to her and simply went with the flow.
It was a great pleasure to work with her as she shared her career experience with me as a model in KL & Jakarta. Overall it was really great to work with her coz she really has vision and determination!

Another Shining Moment : Miss Oriental 2009

Concluding the last installation for the Miss Oriental pageant is the finals which was held on the 29th of March.

And to top things off, hair & makeup was to be judged before the competition *cringe!* Just to see who did the best job in all 4 categories.
For those who are not in the local KK scene, my contestant was Kim Stan who happens to also be my childhood friend.
Here are her before & after shots :

All makeup artists were to use hair & makeup products using L'oreal as they were one of the major sponsors of the event.

My concept for this final round was to make her makeup less harsh but more defined especially around the eyes.
Hair was curled and then styled according to her outfit for each round.

Upon completion, each makeup artist was to bring their model(s) to the judging room to be scrutinized. A panel of 6 judges consisting of the press, the editor for Breeze magazine, Malaysia's top model & a top hairstylist was there to evaluate each of the makeup artist's work. I personally hate judging but I'm glad that I had the experience to undergo it.

Despite some minor disputes regarding hairstyles, I simply let her hair down as Kim personally insisted on having it that way.

Next came the results for the beauty Hair & Makeup category. Makeup artists were all lined up on stage with their contestants for the results and here were the judges' desicions :

I sure didn't expect to win as I was up against so many veteran makeup artist who have been in the field for several decades.
I was announced last and it was all a blur when I went center stage to receive my award. The paparazzi's flashes where everywhere and everyone was screaming like crazy!
It absolutely was a precious moment for me to remember.

The days of March have arrived, bringing to you in another exclusive beauty editorial under the sun.

A touch of chiffon, a whiff of the summer breeze.
The third month has arrived to embrace you with its golden touch,
like chocolate against vibrant caramel dreams carrying you away to another world of :
~ **SUMMER GLAM : Escape to Paradise** ~

This will be one shoot that I will never forget! Our initial plans of shooting along the coast of Karamubunai beach was dampened when a smart-ass security drove us away, saying we had no permission to shoot on their land. But the show must go on, so we had to move to another location!
Rasa-ria Resort was the closest alternative and unfortunately we lost a lot of time while losing the sunset - one of the essential elements for this shoot. Hence resulting in the low key images you see here. Looks like we had to make it work due to our busy schedules.

Going back to the model, this time I had the opportunity to work with Katy C. Kana who hails from Labuan.
The first time I saw her I automatically had this urge to approach her to do a photoshoot!
Personally I feel that she has a unique & exotic Brazillian look & basically this entire shoot was inspired by her beauty.
Here are her before & after the makeover :

The idea for her Summer Glam makeup was to appear as natural as possible while having a hint of glam to her overall look. So to start of I corrected her skin using concealer then used a lot of moisturizer to achieve that dewy effect - as if she wasn't wearing any foundation.
I then proceeded to enhance her lovely eyes by giving them a darker shade together with several coats of mascara.
I channeled in warm tones of gold, brown & bronze to give out that earth toned feel and played around with a lot of shimmery textures around the eyes & cheeks. Lips were kept to a minimal sheen.

To even make the concept alive I decided to make a sheer chiffon dress which you can see in this shoot!.
After finally hunting down the material in 1B, I was finally able to put my imagination into my first ever fashion piece. Yay!!
A swimsuit is worn underneath the dress which has a plunging neckline & a slit in front. I did this dress in a few hours without edging & Katy was kind enough to help me complete the finishing touches~

Makeover for Azean Sueno Ninas

Here is another makeover which I did for my long-time friend Azean.
She also happens to be the co-owner of one of KK's hip & chic fashion boutique - Sueno Ninas, located on the 1st floor of Komplex Karamunsing.
Anyway she needed my service as she had to attend a friend's wedding that evening and here are her before & after shots :
Products we used were most of hers & believe me she is one BIG fan of m.a.c!
She even has more m.a.c lipsticks that I do! But anyways the look she wanted was youthful, so i did my best to make her look younger and less tired-looking.

As for her hairdo, she wanted to do a curled up-do so I had to curl her hair using a curling thong and then design it according to her taste.

Fashion Editorial for Mandy Nandu

I remember the day I did this job, I had another evening appointment for Mimmie's wedding reception at Atlantis.
Needless to say, I was in a budget timezone. LOL!
Anyways this would be my 2nd time to makeover Mandy who happens to be one of my favourite models!
Here are her before & after pics with my touch :

Anyway to begin the story, Cassandra Patrick was in charge of this editorial shoot for Breeze's March issue and filled me up on the important details regarding the hair & makeup via email.

She said she wanted an elegant beauty look with golden highlight so I created Mandy's look below based on that.

For eyes I gave her a smoky bronze & gold eye finish using Duo Carat from KATE accentuated with heavy top lash & brown liner for the lower eyes.
The whole looks was kept luminous and sheer to give that golden glow.
Cheeks were blush with my latest buy from m.a.c - Mineralize skin degrade in Blonde which is of a beautiful pinkish highlighting texture.
Lips was then finished off with L'oreal's Glam Shine for that muted effect.

As for her hairdo, I was instructed to do an effortless but elegant look.
So I curled Mandy's locks with a curling thong and loosely gathered them into the back for that romantic feel.
Finally, a mist of hairspray to set the look.

Makeup for 2nd Heat - Miss Oriental

The theme for the 2nd heat was Miss Oriental goes to China.

Instantly I had the inspiration to do a 1920s Shanghai beauty on Kim to fit into the whole scheme of things.
Here are her before & after shots :

This time I wanted to set the notch up a little higher by giving her a much more dramatic effect to her makeup as it were in the golden days of Shanghai.
Intense eyeliner, smokier choices of eyeshadow as well as a deep luscious red lip color was done to achive the desired effect.

This time her straight locks were given a loose wave to give her that old world charm, reminisent of those vintage pinup girls found on mooncake boxes.

She was indeed a crowd favourite and that night she was awarded a subsidary title of Miss Congeniality based on her personal interpretation of Confucious' words of wisdom.

Makeover for Hens Night

This was another makeover which I did for Daniela Kinsik during her Hen's Night last 26th of January.

And off course, I was invited to join in the fun and get drunk!

Anyways, she previously did a makeup trial with me for her wedding so basically I knew what she wanted : larger eyes, an even complexion as well as a slimmer face.
So I did my best to meet her requirements. I'm sure I did a pretty good job.

Makeup for 1st Heat - Miss Oriental 2009

Hello again! Sorry for the late post, I have been swamped with so many jobs recently that had been unable to update my blog.

Anyway to kick things off, here is my entry for the preview round of the Miss Oriental 2009 organized by D Junction Fun Pub on the 23rd of January.
Kim is my close as well as long lost childhood friend. The last time I saw her was about 15 years ago & I recently re-united with her after joining up with Bodycare Studio late last August.
Anyway, Kim was never into pageants and this is her 1st and only experience.
But with enough encouragement she finally decided to give it a try.

This was also my 1st experience in a pageant and it was both tough and stressful being surrounded by the other senior and professional makeup artist & hairstylist. There were 4 categories up for grabs as well but that didn't matter to me coz at that point, I knew my only mission was to do my best for Kim to look her best.
To make things worse, all makeup artists were to use L'Oreal products which was a major sponsor for the event. So it was kind of difficult when I've got so used to my own stuff and especially m.a.c!

Going back to the competition, 1st round the contestants had to parade Harajuku outfits from one of the sponsor & Kim was lucky to have the Cute Lolita outfit! Other contestants wore Lolita Maid & Gothic.

Finally for the last round, the contestants were required to parade a modern cheong sam.

This dress that Kim wore was an outstanding piece specially created & designed by my designer friend Beatrice Pong!
She was also the one who created Mandy dress in my last Blog feature.

Makeup for Olumis Fashion Show

Last 17th & 18th of January, I was given the great opportunity to work with one of Sabah's leading fashion houses - Olumis Borneo Fashion Batik in conjunction with this year's Buy Malaysian Products Campaign launched in the 1 Borneo Hypermall Atrium.

Here are models who were involved in the runway show with makeup done by me & hairdo assisted by Junzuenn from Olumis:

The makeup concept for this fashion show was indeed simple which focused more on classic beauty : I used gold pigments from m.a.c as an eyeshadow base, heavy top eyeliner, bronzer from the Bodyshop and a deep red lip color from Skin Foods.

The Makeover Process
I was both excited and blessed for being able to work with Sabah's best celebrity models Mandy Nandu - state level Unduk Ngadau 2005 & Miss Sabah 2007 as well as Keddy Mahdfuz - Mr.Kaamatan 2008 & winner for the Mr.Photogenic title for the Sabah Supermodel & Manhunk 2008.
Both a star in their field, I decided to make this shoot even greater by involving on of Sabah's top wedding photographer Frisco Daniel who takes extremely beautiful pictures! Check out his blog www.friscod.com for more details.

To start off, I did my makeup for Mandy using a m.a.c base to give her that sheer coverage as she already has beautiful skin. Intensity was mainly on the eyes which I did a socket shadow to give them more depth.
Products used were Strobe cream, Foundation in NC30, Mineralize eyeshadow trio in Danger Zone & Dazzleglass in Sugarrimed - all from m.a.c.

Makeup for Breeze Magazine Shoot

~ 11th December 2008 ~

My ultimate JOY came true one unexpected day when the editor of Breeze Magazine, Jonathan Bong called me up to work with him in a 2 page fashion editorial featuring products from Charles & Keith as well as apparel from mPhosis & eclipse.
I have always been a fan of this publication for quite some time and was beyond excited when I got the chance to feature my work in KK's hottest lifestyle magazine!
Shoot theme & concept was 'Evening Party' so I had to come up with the makeup style that mirrored the editor's requirements.
Products that I used throught this shoot include a mixture of M.A.C, Elizabeth Arden, Elianto, Napoleon & Laura Mercier.
Models for the day was Kohinoor & Francine.

Makeup for Hair Show Models

~20th December 2008 ~

One unexpected afternoon, I was given the opportunity to work with one of Malaysia's top hair dressers, Alan Inspiration Salon which operates in Komplex Asia City.
They did a hair show during the Sabah's Supermodel & Manhunk competition held at 1 Borneo Grand Ballroom. If you were there, you would have seen it.
All in all they had 12 models for 3 categories including haircut, high-hair & avant garde.
Here are the collection of pics taken from various photographers during the event.

:: Haircut Models ::
Basically they wanted a very fierce dramatic look as their stage personalities were predators!
Color selection was done by the artistic director of Alan Salon & I did my best to deliver the desired look. As for makeup items I do not recall as they had their own products which I HAD to use.

:: Avant Garde Hair Models ::
Finally after years in this line, I get the opportunity to express my artistic works.
As usual color & concept selection is from Alan Salon & I did my best to deliver the looks on 12 of their models. Here are the pics of me & the models Maria & Grace Kho.

December Bridal Makeups

Hello peeps!

This is a follow-up to all my december brides that I missed out due to my oh-so-busy schedule.
I made a slight improvement in my editing thanks to Mr.Jeffery Jason .
So BIG thanks to him for teaching me online! See if you can spot the diffrence!Enjoy!

~ 12 & 13th December 2008 ~

My second bride for the month was Miss Senarti who had her Malam Berinai ceremony on the 12th night of December.
For her look I did a natural makeover to suit her grey lace & satin outfit.
Her are her before & after pics :

As you can see, her makeup was kept to a softened effect to give her that innocent look
& I tried my best to conceal her uneven skin tone & texture.
Lips were kept to a nude yet glossy tone to give emphasis to her eyes.

As for her second look on the 13th, I decided to use warmer colours to give radiance to her look.
As usual I focused more on here eyes & had to exert double effort into helping her achieve that flawless finish.
Overall she was happy with her transformation thanks to me & a little help from colored lenses!

~ 21st December 2008 ~
This was a bride recommended by my friend Anne Soffie.
The bride was a primary school teacher based in West Malaysia together with her husband.
This makeup was for her evening reception in Sembulan &
here are her before and after shots:

As the makeup was intended for the evening, I opted for darker shades &
enhanced her skin tone to make her look fairer.
After all a personal request from the bride.
I used Revlon's face prep to smoothen her skin & continued her foundation using m.a.c NC32.
Her base was then set with loose powder.

For her lids I went with colors to compliment her outfit & used a metallic silver for her lids.
Lips were colored with a soft apricot peachy tone & blushed using Body Shop bronzer.
Her hair was set into a high crown & curled her the bangs to give her face shape.
The look was finished off with hair extentions.

Bridal Makeup for Nikah, Berinai & Sanding Reception

December was a busy time for me & had no time to update my bridal works for my blog.
Any how I am still keeping my promise to posts all my work as requested by my beloved clients.
This was one of my work for Ana who had her engagement ceremony on :
~ 2nd December 2008 ~
Here she is before makeup at her residence in Kepayan Ridge :

For her engagement I just went with the simple & clean look,
focusing more on soft radiant skin & a natural finish.

~ 3rd December 2008 ~
Her wedding reception was held at the Dewan PPS, Sembulan as early as 10am which lasted till 5 in the evening!
Here she is all dolled up for her 'berinai' ceremony.
The bridal boutique actually sent the wrong dress so we just had to make do with what we had.

Focus as always, evolved around intensive eye shadow, heavy liner, the works!
She wore a reddish tone which meant I had to 'up' the lipcolor to compliment her look.
It was indeed a challenge to keep her looking refined without over doing it because
not everyone can carry red well!

Moving on to her next change for her 'sanding' ceremony, blue was all the rage!
You know I never liked blue makeup on anyone unless required & this was inevitable ;)
So I tried to work my way through & gave her a more lush lipcolor & a change of eyes shadow.

Some may think this might be over the top for a bride but it all depends on lighting really.
In reality, it doesn't look this harsh but only when captured in film from a close distance.
All in all I am still satisfied that her complexion was ever so radiant & stood throughout the entire ceremonies. That' s why we pay for expensive products for better quality makeup!

Anyways here she is with me above & below again with her youthful looking husband!

Happy New Year guys!

I'm so excited that I have so much in store for you this year.
To kick off this year with a blast, behold my January Makeover:
[ Happy & Funky 2009 ! ]
The inspiration for this shoot was actually from the colorful graffiti behind the
HSBC building in downtown KK.
The theme I chose was lady gaga/back to the 80's/neon colour glam.
I wanted a young, fresh and funky vibe for the shoot and here is the outcome.
The model is Moiey, my co-dancer & photographed by DorisJ.

To start off, I simply gave her a fresh & luminecent base to enhance her already perfect skin.
I then laid on several layers of yellow eyshadow blended with orange & red inspired from the location's sunset grafitti.

After achieving the desired tone, I then proceeded to put my lay my theme-inspired artwork on the face to give her that 80's funky edge.
Her face was then finished off with m.a.c's sheertone blush in DOllymix & pinkish lip color to compliment her outfit.

Hello people, I can't believe how fast time flies and it's already the end of the year!

I am glad that my work has gotten so many positive response from all of you out there.

This would be my last post for this year even though still I have yet to post my other works in November & December due to my super-busy schedule!
Anyways for this shoot, I had the great opportunity to collaborate with the light hearted & talented Mr.Benny Liew!
The model featured is Joan Moo & she is a teacher by profession.
Joan was selected via Benny's Facebook group competition & was the lucky winner selected!

The makeup idea was pretty simple, as always intense eye & a clean base.

For her eyes I started off with m.a.c's paint pot in Barestudy & created depth & intensity using eyeshadows from KATE as well as my latest limited editon m.a.c mineralize eyshadow in Danger Zone.

Base was from m.a.c's hyper real foundation in NC30 & finished with Pixy power.

This was one of the last few final shots & it turned out great in the picture. Truly artistic!

This is the 2nd installment of the Fanny & Willson Wedding affair.
It's true that you can't please everybody to like your work.
But I'm glad that when it's between me & my client, I give my best hand forward
& they really love it! That's what matters most!
Since Fanny is my Bride of the Year, I am posting Fanny's before & after pics taken by me & ex-classmate Willbrord to show you that makeup can do lots of wonders.
Here she is before her makeup :

To achieve this look, I used m.a.c's full coverage foundation in NC30 to give her an even finish.
Her foundation was then set with pressed powder to give her a lasting base.

A random shot of my eyeshadow collection.

Since she was a personal fan of my doll eye technique, for her eyes I focused more on big, accentuated & volume.

Personally I love sheer & pale lips versus n heavy eye but I gave her a much darker tone as requested.

For her blush I used m.a.c's sheertone blush in Margin topped off with a sweep of bronze from Bodyshop's shimmer beads.

After 2 hours & a messy table full of my stuff, here comes the bride!

Bridal Makeup for Morning Mass

November was indeed one of the busiest months of the year.
It seemed that everyone wanted to get married as soon as Puasa was over.
Anyways, after several months of planning & decision making,
it was time for my new friend Fanny to tie the knot ' Wedding of the year' style!
Here is she before and after :

Well frankly speaking the pic above isn't a fully done makeup
but I 'd just like to share with you the progress of her transition.
From uneven to flawless.
Naturally she had very fair skin so my job was just to deliver glowing
complextion & big eyes plus full lips.

Since the light in room was insufficient, I had to use natural sunlight to give me a better view during my entire work process.
Basically, her base & blush from m.a.c & eyeshadow from KATE. I decided to apply a subtle smoky technique using earth toned colors to give her that warm natural finish.
Eyes were finished off with medium volume lashes &
a neutral lipstick in mauve to compliment her entire look.

Her shoulder length bob was pulled back into an inverse bun to keep things neat since she'd be wearing a personalized veil decorated with lace fringe & scattered with over 350 Swarovski crystals.

bouquet that I absolutely adore!

After her Wedding mass, we then proceed back to her residence for a quick hair change as she had a luncheon or her guests at Ocean Seafood.

Bridal Makeup for Reception @ Dewan PPS, Sembulan

With one event after the other it's been tough to keep track of all the work that I have done. However I will not let all my beloved fans down!
Here is another Bride that I made up in Dewan PPS, Sembulan.
When I met her, her initial concerns were heavy makeup.
She was worried that she'd look like a drag queen as she had an unpleasant experience with a previous makeup artist who did her makeup in her village in Membakut. Yikes!
So I after some talk and assurance, I promised to give her a very sweet & soft look.
Here she is before and after :

For her base, I had no trouble smoothing out as she had one of the most finest skin I've seen.
So I focused more on her eyes which were rather inverted.

I simply used m.a.c's shadow in Ricepaper as her base and defined it with brown shadow & a set of heavy lashes to give her eyes more omph!

Lips were simply finished off with a pale pink from Laura Mercier & blushed from m.a.c's dollymix.

Bridal Makeup for Reception @ Promenade Hotel

~ 23rd November, 2008 - evening reception ~

As promised this is the highly awaited follow up to my previous post
featuring the lovely Ms. Marina Chelle Abu Bakar.
For the benefit of all, this is her again prior to her evening makeup :
During her makeover :
For her evening look I wanted to give her a sexy smoky eye & nude glossy lips knowing Marina wanting to always look beautiful without over doing it.
So basically I focused more on here eyes, giving it the intensity it needed.
For here eyes I did a ivory base from Elianto then worked my way with Carbon from m.a.c & continued blending with Dual Carat eyeshadow from KATE.
Here she is half way done and doesn't she look absolutely fab?
I am happy with the look as I never expected that her look would be this amazing.
However I still had to set her hair before finishing the last touches.
For her hair I just did a simple up-do and curled the ends of her hair with a hot iron as she wanted some volume & curls on her big night.
After setting her locks with spray, I then decorated here hair with a nice piece of accessory provided by her bridal boutique.

Finishing off her look, I did a simple lips colour in natural pink and topped it off with clear gloss.

Absoulutely fabulous!! Lover her in lovely gown and her 12 feet veil !

If you think that was all, the show's not over yet.
For her 2nd change I had to do a little touch-up to match her outfit for the night.
Just a little more blush & a darker lip colour to be exact!

Bridal Makeup for Nikah Ceremony @ Masjid Likas

This marriage I will never forget.
Marina was introduced to me via my schoolmate Doria who works together with her in KL.
After viewing my blog and a pleasant meeting, she finally booked me in the nick of time as I already had other engagements on the same day!
Here is Marina before :

For her nikah ceremony, Marina's requirements were simple :
The main idea was to still look like herself but in a more fresh & beautiful way.

Basically her skin was prepped with m.a.c's strobe cream to give her that inner glow. Her base was then finished off lightly with m.a.c's studio fix powder to give her that barely there, clear morning skin look.
For her eyes, I did a basic highlight & lined her top lid with dark brown liner for a natural look.
Brows were simply filled with brown shadow to give that warm feel & was finished off with my latest lip shade in Baby Pink and topped off with gloss.

They really are happy together and as you can see, pictures can tell more than words sometimes.

Tis the season for Halloween!

Originally I wanted to feature myself for this edition but decided to post my
**baby doll collection**
My model this time is Ayo, my co-dancer in Bodycare and I wanted a cute & innocent baby doll look for her.

Starting off her foundation base I used The Face Shop's Phytogenic in Caramel & Span Soft Natural Powder - 2 shades lighter than her original base.

Eyes were creased with a dramatic black line using Carbon as well as Ricepaper on the lids and Swish as the highlight.( all from M.a.c )

Blush I also used M.a.c's Dollymix Shimmer blush for that cute pinky glow. Lipcolor by Maybelline watershine in Cottoncandy & Gloss by Elianto.
The look was finished off with full false lashes & wig courtesy of Bodycare.

Raya was indeed a rather quiet month for me

which gave me the opportunity to expand my skills & discover new tricks.
To put my imagination into good use, I decided to give my close friend Anenga farewell gift before going to Dubai after raya.
I previously did her makeup a few years back and decided to give her a much different look.

Additional products used for this shoot is M.a.c's Shimmer Blush in 'Margin', which gives her that glowing tan on her cheeks. Hair was teased to give volume and set with hairspray.
Moving on to her 2nd look which was in heavy reference to the 1920's era :

Aneng's final look was given a more futuristic & edgy look.
I wanted a more surreal & avant garde touch to her face and focused more on her eyes while keeping the rest of her face bare.
Lips were kept to a subtle matte with a touch of bronze on her high cheeks to draw more attention to the upper part of her face.

MOdel Makeover

Martha is an aspiring model. Standing at 5'7, she currently is still a secondary school student.
She was a fresh talent who happens to be one of my dance student and needed pictures for her start-up portfolio. All together I have created 3 looks for her portfolio starting off with a natural beauty shoot.
Her natural shot was simply neutral and maintained to highlight her features. Makeup was definitely kept minimal with earth tones in focus to give her already sallow skin warm contrast.
As for he second look, I decided to channel a more Victorian inspired feel to give her a more avant garde look. Eyes were set to a more smokier brown and lush lashes. The overall look was finished off with some vintage items which i personally collected for styling shoots.

Finally for her last look, I decided to go over the top and give her a more dramatic feel. Inspired by the greenery around my house, I opted for a more artistic approach to beauty.

Last Minute Makeover

Recently I had a last minute appointment for a makeover for Laura, a sweet 17 year old. Lucky for her I was available, I did a simple smoky eye paired together with a neutral nude lip.

Makeup was left to a softer look as she wanted to look not overly done. I did my best to frame her brows as she did not want them trimmed due to the fact that she was still a student and plucked browns area against school rules! Hence I simply shaped them with brown eyeshadow.
Her base I used strobe cream for that inner glow and eyeshadows used were m.a.c's Carbon, Ricepaper and elianto's browns. Lips were kept minimal and topped off with bubblegum pink gloss which I found at Guardians' - Warisan Square for only RM2.95!

A Weekend Affair

While everybody was busy celebrating Merdeka, I was booked for a 2 day marriage affair in Penampang. Tending the groom's family & relatives who wanted to look their best while trying not to over-shine the bride!

To begin with, I had

Despite her age, I tried my best to freshen up her look without making her look overly done. Skin was concealed with mac's Full Coverage Foundation to disguise fine lines & reveal a more youthful glow. Her brows were retained to its original curve and lips given a more fuller shape.

This bubbly gal kept me entertained throughout my work and didn't feel so stressed out even though it was practically a race of one girl after the other! For her day look at the church mass, I decided to give her a clean look of barely there makeup and lucious lips. Hair was pulled back into a neat bun to compliment her dress.For her evening look at the dinner reception, I decided to give her eyes more punch as well as ephasising on more blush for that glamourous feel. Initially I had false lashes added but she decided to go with her own. Her before oily and breakout-prone skin was concealed with m.a.c's concealer and finished off with foundation & loose powder.

Fransisca

This young and sweet person is a good example of using your natural beauty without putting too much makeup. We both agreed on the same concept. Her makeup was indeed minimal! If you notice there is that veil of glow on her face and I assure you its not oily! Remember oilyness is next to uglyness!! After setting her base, instead of pressed powder I used the latest trend to hit our shores : Mineral Makeup! The one used on both Fransisca & Jen is from my beloved m.a.c Mineralize Skinfinish Natural which goes on smoothly and builds up slightly upon reapplication. I wouldn't recommend this on a hot day as it tends to make oily skin grease up in humid temperature.However for a morning mass at a church, mineralize your way to that natural & fresh like glow! You won't regret it coz I told u earlier :)

More Stuff for My BOx...

Okay I admit that i just can't seem to resist from shopping. Especially when it comes to grooming/cosmetics. I'm practically like a kid in a candy store whenever i'm in M.A.C!

Anyways, for the development of my work as well as the benefit of my loyal subjects, let me share with you some of my latest finds :

M.A.C Full Coverage Foundation ( NC30 )
I have been looking around lately for another product to replace my exsisting concealer pot from Sariayu and I finally found it. It works exactly the same only better! This Full Coverage Foundation was developed for the professional makeup artist who wanted an emollient-based foundation with opaque coverage. Water-resistant and long-wearing, it can cover most scars, blemishes and birthmarks. This easy-to-blend cream cake formulation's coverage can range from sheer to opaque. Achieve sheer coverage by applying a small amount of the foundation using a moist sponge. For opaque coverage apply the foundation using a dry sponge and a stippling motion. Compatible with latex and other synthetics used in special effects makeup, it can be used on the face and body. Great for beauty photography.

M.A.C's Strobe Cream
This product I truly LOVE! Use this to get that inner glow like marble which shines from within. It is also
the ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanicals; de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enhances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight.

M.A.C Eyeshadows

I decided to try out M.A.C's eyeshadows since I'd be doing a purple and pink themed makeup soon for a few bridesmaids. Currently I've using other brands like Bodyshop and Elianto but failed to get as much shades and colours. However at RM56 a colour, M.A.C didn't dissapoint. Rice paper delivered a neutral-coloured highlight with frost finishing ~ Which means utter Glam people! Swift was more of a pearlish pink and easily blendable with my exsisiting CArbon. I can't wait to get their Mineralise Eye Duo!

M.A.C Dollymix Sheer Tone Blush
This may look extremely bright in the pot, but it is actually a beautifully sheer soft rose with a gold shimmer. Apply it lightly with your blush brush. The color can go anywhere from very sheer to very bright, so you can customize it to your skin tone and personal preference.
I have used this color on every skin tone, and it gives the "perfect flush" every time!!

False Eyelashes

I found these cute pair of lashes for only RM 5.90 at Noveal, CP ( ground floor level ). They have other outlets in Citymall as well. It is one of my must-go to stores for my beauty supplies. Their collection of lashes is endless and it took me about 15 minutes to pick out these pair! I'll be using this for my next bridal makeup. I got another pair in a lesser volume.

LUCIDOL Hairspray
I ran out of hairspray and unfortunately they also ran out of Treseme as well!! Arghh.. I was a bit hesitant to try this brand but when i tried it i instantly loved it. Thank God! It had a decent citrus scent and sprays on very evenly. Surprisingly you don't need to spray a lot for control. The product lives up to its word by holding super super strong and leaves a hint of fine shimmer for that healthy looking hair. Smells great! Never under-estimate the power of Japanese technology!

The ladies down at Affin Bank had their annual dinner recently and i had the opportunity for some more makeover glam! Here are some before & after pics..enjoy!

Ms. Datin wanted a more natural look, so i decided to go keep everything simple and muted.

AFter layers of shading to slim down her features and an moderately-intense eye, here comes the result...

I had about 5 makeovers which began at 2pm and ended at 7pm nonstop~Talk about work!
Anyways, next is ultimate fabulousity..How i wish that every woman was as open to experimentation as her. People, rise and behold :

Utterly Glam! Need i say more? Not every girl wants to wear a nude lip & glittered lids.
Her base was m.a.c NC30 hyper real foundation & eyeshadows from elianto. Flared lashes & silver glitter for the lids. And God does she loved to get dolled-up!

Ever since M.A.C hit our shores I have been falling head over heels with their stuff.
My mum tells me that i'm possesed! But who cares? I'm doing it all in the name of beauty! Anyways, the other day I went out all the way to 1-B to rid my beauty fever and did myself some little shopping..

I totally love M.A.C's FIX+ which is an aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Trust me it works! You can use it either before your foundation to freshen your face or after your foundation to add radiance and finishes makeup.

I'm pretty blessed to have M.A.C now, although I am also dying to have my hands on NARS's Orgasm blush - consistently voted the best blush on the market by both beauty industry professionals and consumers alike. A must-have for all skin tones!
Will someone be kind enough to ship me one? Pretty please? I hear it's made with transparent pigments which gives out a soft and sheer look. May be worn alone or layered together for more depth and intensity. Now that's what you want if you want a natural and healty glow for any skin tone!

This is my makeup collection as of August 2008. This is a fragment of what is yet to come as I still have a list of products that I have not purchased yet. But this is what I have been working with so far. I have about 11 different brushes from various brands. My foundation and fixers are from M.A.C and Clinique. Powders from Elianto and M.A.C. Eyeshadows from Chanel, Elizabeth Arden, Elianto and Bodyshop. Lipcolor & glosses from Maybelline, L’oreal, The Face Shop and Bodyshop.
So far I have spent over RM 5,000 on cosmetics alone. I’m not really loyal to a single brand, I like mixing it up to have the best of all worlds and see which works on who better. Since I’m from a town in East Malaysia, we don’t really have imported brands like Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, Benefit or Makeup Forever. How I wish! But lucky for me, more recently with the opening of 1-Borneo, we were blessed with the much awaited M.A.C and STILA. Naturally helping me deliver flawless looks effortlessly.

my Makeup Philosphy

What is my idea of beauty? Fresh – Radiant – Natural.
I believe that when I look at a person, like a diamond in the rough, I always see that they have their potential of looking better. Although natural beauty is the best, a little enhancement would make the world a better place. The key is in moderation.

I think makeup should be used to improve flaws and to enhance what you already have. I don’t believe in putting too much makeup unless required. Otherwise, I try to keep things subtle, natural, keeping it real and not too overly done. Like you’ve always had it.

My look is all about perfect skin, well groomed eyebrows, accentuated eyes, plush lips & an overall healthy glow.

My experience as a makeup artist began few years back while being attached to a local events company. I have been involved in dance arts & production for about 7 years now. During that period, it has been part of my job description to choreograph dances, design & manufacture the costumes as well creating the performers’ stage look.

I have always had a fascination towards groomed beauty and began landing bookings through my works which the public saw during some of the performances. My experience was met through trial and error which has played an important part in my learning process thus enhancing my skills none imaginable than before.

I have learnt that you have to have the right products to achieve the desired looks and you should never compromise quality. I have also learnt that you have to have the right makeup tools which can make or break your work.

To keep my works current, I also like to do a lot of research online and learn about new products & techniques while capturing the essence of different looks. I don’t believe in copying because I believe that I do have my own style.

My biggest breakthrough so far would be winning 1^st place for the Bodyshop Makeup Competition during November last year ( 2007 ). It was held to launch their latest autumn/winter collection and I submitted my piece – “ Tropical Winter” which was inspired by our warm Malaysian weather during the year’s end months. My model was decked in faux-fur, feathers & bird’s nest inspired hair extensions. Gold and bronze accessories were used to accentuate the look.

Passion has always kept me motivated and beauty will always keep me inspired. To date, my list of clientele has included dancers, brides, pageant contestants, models as well as referrals.
